ComEd co-sponsors solar array at Mohawk School in Park Forest, IL. On December 18, 2002, ComEd representatives will join the students and faculty at the Mohawk Elementary School in Park Forest, Illinois to commemorate the installation of a 1kW solar array at the facility. The system demonstrates the application of renewable energy in a tangible way and serves as a teaching laboratory for math and science curriculum at Mohawk. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation, Community Energy Cooperative, Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and the Foundation for Environmental Education along with ComEd, hope to do several more demonstration installations at schools throughout Illinois. “Ground mounted systems bring photovoltaics up close where students can see first hand how they work, we are pleased to provide Mohawk students the opportunity to learn more about energy alternatives,” says Mary O’Toole, Director of Regulatory and Strategic Initiatives.
